CULION

(ispinili wrote:)

i just want to ask some questions;

1. what comes to your mind when you hear the word 'culion'?
can yo say that to others when they ask you where you come from the philippines...?
2. how are we going to heal the name culion?
3. why do we have to depend our town's name now?
4. what is the real problem of the place?
5. how are we going to improve and develop our productions? in terms of productivity culion is no where to be found...
6. why we're still discriminated?

pahabol

7. what comes to your mind when you hear the word 'tagbanua'?

:-)

8. when, where, and how are we going to start changing things....
9. are we divided?
10. who are our leaders, and the future leaders?

pahabol pong muli

paano naman kaming mga tangay!? do we really know what's their situations? what's their identity in our midst?..

Just short answers:

1. I am always proud to say that I'm from Culion, Palawan
2. Culion is healing by it self, magpakatao lang tau whereever
we are.
3. we depend it with good deeds.
4. Mahirap sagutin, I'll tell you personally, very relative question.
5. Fish is the only product we could be competitive (
Philippines only), Zero in other agri product due to high transport cost (Batil).
6. konti na lang, refer to answers 1, 2 & 3.
PAHABOL. One of the indigenous people of Palawan, Maraming sub
tribe in the whole Palawan.
PAHABOL 2. Matagal ng maumpisahan yan, even for yourself you
could compare noon (1962) and today.
PAHABOL 3. YES, we are divided not only in Palawan but the whole
Philippines, Filipinos are regionalistic ( labanang ilocano, cebuano, ilonggo, bikolano and more.)
PAHABOL. 4 everybody should lead "LEAD BY EXAMPLE"

We are all Minority in this world.

Hope to meet you and discuss more on this topic. I always visit
Culion now & then and will stay there after my retirement. problema ko rin kung paano

Unique ang situation ng culion, which should be tackled in a

Hindi naman totally paatras ang municipio, they just started on
the wrong foot. wag sana tayong mag isip na parang "YOU AND ME
AGAINST THE WORLD"
Culion, I have seen much of the Philippines and some foreign places
na mas masama ang situation kesa Culion. PERSEVERE MY CHILD

I think this site can be a major vehicle to expidite the long
awaited progress for culion.

No, I'm not a teacher, Paggalang siguro sa matatanda kaya Sir
tawag sa akin.

there are some comments na hindi ko pwede ilagay dito, sabi ng
Moderator, permanent na yan and black & white.

More power to Culion,

hello my fellow culion folks...

when i heard the word "Culion" i just can't help it, but gives some
mixed feelings that i am nearing to arrive in my rightful place
called HOME... I am a culion tagbanua still and forever will be,
despite being uprooted from my place and implanted to what we called
civilized society... we been talking here a lot of what we can do
for the progress of our place, of problems that were result of our
generation's alienation from an increasingly urbanized society... we
are lucky to exchanged ideas with this means, not that we agree with
each other, but that we can understand each other...some people
said," our task is not to fix the blame for the past, but to fix the
course for the future" so we need to start in one point...and the
shortest way to do many things is to do only ONE thing at once...
through reading and reviewing your posted messages i can picture of
the new generation, their views of the future and desires for
change...I've found you all more optimistic than i expected...so
everybody, go on with your dreams...May God bless us all along the
way...

yes i have some pictures of those pearl companies around the
islands but they are not that detailed.. and i'll try to find them to
post here.. they are not really a threat to the people, actually in
positive view they are preserving also the sea cause they have
their own guards around even in the night to protect their pearls...
and they generate jobs for the town's people. sometimes they are
strict but if they know the person they'll allow you to pass even in
the middle of their site.. for the tagbanuas i think they respect the tribe cause they are not really a problem to the company... in my experience they
always try to be friendly to all. the only problem is the fishermen's site
or their places of fishing. one of my uncle lost his earnings cause
they took almost all the sites where he catch fish...
maybe some people here can share also their experiences about
the situation of this multi-companies... as i know the big
problems are the illegal fishing who destroyed the sea... and those thieves.

yes i have some photos of your tribes. but not that much. i
really want to take more pictures of them but i have no time to go
around the islands and i'm always alone and afraid of the sudden change of
weather... yes i will post the pictures of the tagbanuas too,
i'll search more in my files.. for the maintime let's just feel
homesick...
by the pictures!

-hi jong,

It gives a relief not only for me, but maybe the others for
your revelation that the people behind the pearl farm are that
friendly( what is your comment tangay ispin?)...although they
took some sites for fishing,is this through rightful concessions or
by the power of the imminent domain?...in which, the gov't can just
take over or use the land or sea through PD declarations
(sic!)...well as you are telling it is okay in your own views,
i'll accept it as my positive view too...
I hope to see the real situation by myself if given a golden
chance...maybe and its still a maybe, that my tribes situation
is well taken cared of, especially their education... since it
produced the likes of tangay ispin and delfin, etc. who in my observation
are well versed or opinionated and ever knowing any topics under the
sun...
Good thing too, that everyone has this care to our very own
community, i could feel the sense of oneness despite some
patchable differences...I hope in the future we could devise an integrated
beautiful plan that could benefit everyone in our island...this
should be planned, prepared and implemented by us, Culion
folks...I presumed those people who in a way are part of our community are
willing to partake in this noble project...maybe these days we
got plenty of think tanks, produced more professionals in different
field of proffesions, and lots of enthusiasms from our young
people...
we should always keep in mind that this community has a
special part in giving us our social standing and current
livelihood...and all of us must give something back to it...by
any means...
Again i am very grateful for those upcoming photographs...I am
already excited to view it...

thanks jong and my brother dapal
are they really that friendly
maybe they have to be... anyway good for them
what about your uncle jong base on your story
what happened to him now how's his income...?
also nice that they (pearl farmers) are good in our tribes
as i have said before, they already own the sea...
good for them too... and some of our place they bought already.
pati isla. they can buy almost anything in culion. mayayaman sila. at sila
lang. i learned that they are positioning for politicsss
that's the news this coming election who are these candidates?
we need to know them.. what are their plans for culion? ano ang
pinahahalagahan nila?!
can they give us eletricity 2 and please can you make it 24hrs. so
we can study also... makapag aral na rin ang ibang kapatid namin. at

isang paghahayag lamang at sana'y maintindihan...

brod ispin,

half blood tangay ako, but I"ve stopped being antagonistic and
sarcastic about the whole world. kasalanan natin bakit ang mga

ngayun sa culion, without us lifting a finger. maliit pa ako noon
but I cant forget that during new years, gumagawa ng alak (ATOMIC)
nila na alak ang hilig not only of our father but also mga nanay
natin, naranasan kong magutom at mag kabit lang layag dahil both of
my parents ay lasing.

NOW IS OUR TIME TO MAKE THE NECESSARY CHANGES, TO SHOW TO THEM
THAT WE ARE DIFFERENT, THAT WE HAVE CHANGED FOR THE BETTER, THAT
ALL MEN ARE EQUAL IN THE THIS WORLD.

Laban tayo FOR THE BETTER.

tangay brothers

dapal

-mga brods n friends,

Cheers to all and what a good day!

well said and done brod ispin...we have a tagbanua saying that more
or less goes like this..." yo pang tung me balangay, yo tu pang
ibu-log tung talse"...can any of my real tangay brothers give some
depth insight regarding this saying...been given this thought for
some time...
well bro. jong and bro. ispin et al, we are all victims of the thing
called "new development" or "continuum progress"...
or "disintegration of good morals in modern life"...or call it
whatever you want...you are all there when these things happened,
kaya lang wala tayong boses at lakas to go againts the
some of us became reactionaries who disliked all reforms which
transformed the old, traditional ways...kaya it bred discontents...
so now our brothers are greatly affected by these changes not only
physically but morally...gone are the so called "symbiosis in life",
affecting conditions of living animals which depend on each other
gumala saan man gugustuhing paruruunan...at mangawil saan mang parte
ng karagatan para may makain...our parents ignorance put them in a
pitiful awkward position...

tangay ispin and my tangay brothers please always remember that when
our clans liberty is taken away by force, it can be restored by
force...but if it is indeed relinquished voluntarily by default it
can never be recovered...we have to do something about this...
i'm beginning to feel sad and frustrated by the events that is
happening to our dear place...I wish we could work together to find
rightful solutions...
thank you all my katangayan brothers for loving our very own
people...

i will always remain with you and our friends in Culion...

your brother,
dapal jr.
